Meet Simon Trautmann Cordova

Simon Trautmann Cordova is a former Richfield City Councilmember and people’s attorney running for MN Senate District 51. During a time when the federal government is turning its back on Minnesota, Simon is a fierce advocate for thriving families, healthcare for all, and a fair, affordable economy.

Simon was born in Bloomington and remains a lifelong resident of the district. He attended Bloomington and Richfield public schools. A second-generation Puerto-Rican business owner, Simon began his career working at his mother’s small business on Old Shakopee Road. Today, he works as an attorney representing small businesses and nonprofits run primarily by immigrants and people of color, while also taking on corporate corruption by organizing lawyers to fight wage thieves.

In his time on the DFL Central Committee, Simon won the right for immigrants to participate in caucuses and conventions, because no Minnesotan should be excluded from their local party due to a federal status.

On the Richfield City Council, Simon won generational change: instituting language accessibility initiatives, creating city-sponsored legal clinics, and securing tens of millions of dollars in infrastructure funding.

Simon lives in his childhood home in Richfield, along with his wife Jennifer and two children. He is a proud member of the Minnesota Hispanic Bar Association, the Puerto Rican Bar Association, and his faith community. Simon champions working families across the state, and he is a committed community leader that will continue to deliver for Senate District 51.
